Job description

Galliard Capital Management focuses on providing stable value and fixed income money management services to institutional investors. The firm was founded in 1995 with 15 clients and $1.8 billion in assets under management. Today, Galliard manages more than $90 billion in assets and has over 110 professionals dedicated to serving more than 230 institutional clients. The Operations Accountant 2 role is part of the Cash team, which is a subgroup of the Fixed Income Operations Team. This role will be integral in reconciling daily cash transactions and monthly holdings for our Galliard's fixed income accounts.

As an Operations Accountant 2, the employee will perform moderately complex operational accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger/customer accounts and resulting managerial reports. Duties may include providing operational accounting support to internal business groups and/or operations departments; reviewing customer financials; preparing/reviewing transactions which may be in support of business group products, preparing entries; gathering, reviewing, and preparing data for regulatory reports. Keeps comprehensive and complex accounts requiring the analysis of operational accounting transactions and the establishment or maintenance of operational accounting controls. May have indirect/direct interaction with customers, clients, or vendors.

Cash Team:
The Cash team consists of 3 individuals who reconcile cash and holdings for our 170+ fixed income clients (custodied with over 20+ banks). The team works standard 40 hours/week but starts their day early (as early as 6am CST at times) to generate a daily Cash Sheet for our Fixed Income Traders by 8:20am CST. Monthly, our fixed income accounts are formally closed in our accounting system (PAM), which is a critical process completed by our Cash Team. This process initiates the monthly close and reporting cycle for our clients.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide daily cash balances to Fixed Income Traders (provided by 8:30 am CST).
  • Complete daily cash transaction reconciliations on assigned accounts, ability to independently research and resolve discrepancies as applicable.
  • Complete monthly holding reconciliations.
  • Generate and provide customized reporting as needed.
  • Facilitate, process, and manage mandatory and voluntary corporate actions.
  • Resolve SMF (security master file) discrepancies.
  • Escalate aged breaks to management per internal business standards.
  • Maintain data integrity for our accounting system (PAM for Investments).
  • Complete month end pre and post tasks.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Settlements as needed.
  • Process and assist with onboarding new accounts, account transitions or account closes.
  • Foster strong relationships with our custodian banks (e.g., monthly service meetings).

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of accounting experience.
  • Familiarity with capital markets and fixed-income securities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel (such as formulas, pivot tables, linking, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Team oriented, ability to work independently and multi-task.
  • Working knowledge of required technical systems.
  • Ability to work early morning hours (sometimes starting at 6am CST) and overtime when needed.
Desired Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree.
  • Operational accounting experience.
  • Experience with PAM (PAM for Investments Accounting Software).
  • Experience with Bloomberg.
  • Experience with mandatory and voluntary corporate actions.
  • Experience or studies in financial or money management industry.
