Principal Software Developer -Social & Collaboration

We are seeking a top-notch Java Engineer to take our Social & Collaboration features to the next level. You'll join our team developing innovative solutions to revolutionize the sharing of genealogical discoveries with the world. You will help drive the architectural decisions and development of customer profile data and services, our notification system, peer to peer messaging, and sharing services.


What you will do:

  • Development in Java using Spring Boot focusing primarily on backend processing
  • Data management with technologies such as MySQL, NoSQL, and caching
  • Develop and improve highly available and reliable applications
  • Work within an Agile (Scrum) development process
  • Write clean, well designed, testable, efficient code.
  • Write excellent unit and integration tests

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or equivalent degree/experience)
  • Minimum of ten years' industry experience developing applications in Java. A qualified candidate must have a fundamental understanding of core Java language, and demonstrate an ability to solve problems in Java
  • Demonstrable in-depth knowledge of SQL
  • Experience with Linux-based continuous delivery
  • Experience writing Unit Tests, Integration Tests and SonarQube
  • Familiarity with Java tools and the JRE
  • Understanding of software development processes, patterns, and principles
  • QA Automation experience is a plus
  • Experience working in a cloud-based ecosystem such as AWS experience is a plus
