What you'll be doing...

Verizon Cloud Object Storage Platform offers data backup services to its customers. We are developing a big data analytics solution to help enhance platform capabilities. As a Sr. Development Engineer, the candidate is expected to join the storage team with primary responsibilities including but not limited to developing storage solutions, automation and jump in and assist with ops as necessary.

  • Develops software solutions by studying information needs, conferring with users, studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; and following the software development lifecycle
  • Determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
  • Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code.
  • Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
  • Improves operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures.

Where you'll be working...

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Kubernetes in container-orchestration system for automating application deployment, scaling, and management.
  • Experience with programming in a language like Python, Golang, Java.
  • Extensive experience in every aspect of software development life cycle.
  • Wllingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Experience with big data, streaming technologies and/or RESTful web service development
  • Experience working within the data analysis ecosystem on top of platforms such as Hadoop, Spark
  • Knowledge of command line tools and the ability to jump in and assist with ops as necessary to keep the pipeline moving
  • Systems administration experience with major Linux distributions
  • Infrastructure fundamental knowledge including compute, virtualization, network and storage concepts.
