Job Description:

The American Red Cross is seeking a Data Migration Test Engineer Lead.

The position is Term Limited at 25 months. It is Work from Home on the east coast.

Job Summary

The Data Migration Test Engineer Lead will perform thorough testing of technology systems, software and procedures to ensure proper operation, freedom from defects and that information systems, products and services meet minimum organization standards and end-user requirements. The Data Migration Test Engineer Lead will troubleshoot and resolve problems. Develop, maintain and upgrade test scripts and architectures for application products. Apply specialized technical expertise to solve critical issues and execute projects of high complexity, scope, size and/or risk. Participate in industry/knowledge reference groups. Advance innovation by researching and implementing current and emerging technology solutions and trends. Serve as lead on projects, provide training and guidance to other staff. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.


  • Engage with a variety of internal and external business partners to ensure a clear understanding of all data and data migration requirements.
  • Define a comprehensive data migration test approach to ensure all intended data to be migrated is migrated as expected and that data integrity is maintained.
  • Design, evaluate and implement test tools, plans, procedures and cases based upon defined requirements.
  • Analyze test cases and provide regular progress reports and metrics.
  • Document test results, analysis reports, logs and metrics.
  • Recommend program improvements or corrections when applicable
  • Comfortable managing team members and activities.
  • Qualifications:

    Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required.

    Experience: Minimum 10 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.


  • Proficiency in using: Micro Focus Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)
  • Experience with other test tools such a Postman and Selenium highly desired.
  • Experience with a variety of types of testing such as; functional, interface, integration, Data Migration, regression, compatibility, etc.
  • Firm understanding of database concepts.
  • Experience in Data Migration testing, ETL methodologies, and use of Microsoft Excel for data quality checks.
  • Experience in developing complex SQL scripts.
  • Experience with messaging services such as Biz Talk.
  • Strong background testing application interfaces; including between software and hardware
  • Experience with testing web-based applications, client-server applications, and highly configurable COTs products
  • Experience in developing risk based test strategies
  • Ability to analyze, design, test, debug software systems and or data
  • Experience in the development of high quality test documentation such as Test Plans, Test cases and procedures, RTMs, and Test Analysis Reports
  • Experience working with Blood Establishment Computer Systems or Healthcare and or regulated domain knowledge
  • Experience testing in a formal and/or regulated environment using structured methodologies.
  • Experience working in an agile/iterative development and test lifecycle.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to quickly learn new application systems and technologies
  • Knowledge of basic project management framework and methodology.
  • Ability to accurately analyze complex application requirements to assess if they are clear, unambiguous and testable
  • Experience managing other project team members to ensure activities are assigned and completed with no risk to schedule and timeline.
