Responsibilities

  • Manage safety of scaling team and raw material vendors on site.
  • Operate computer based scaling system (Tally Works) to receive loads.
  • Operate Excel spreadsheet to track and submit daily reports.
  • Proficient with Outlook email for communications.
  • Track and report accurate daily raw material inventories.
  • Enter load information upon receipt or sale of loads.
  • Understand and implement scaling techniques to control log quality.
  • Use of tape measure and writing.
  • Good leadership, teamwork and communication.
  • Maintain and improve on vendor relationships.
  • Work with log yard crew to effectively manage log rotation.
  • Safely and effectively inspect loads for quality issues.
  • Conduct log inspection both on the scales and on loads spread on the yard.
  • Conduct physical log inventories.
  • Maintain cleanliness of scale house and work area.
  • Participate in mill led safety meetings/programs.
  • Lead safety meeting with staff.
  • Accurate reporting to management of operational, quality or safety issues.
  • Responsible for minimizing truck turn times.
  • Responsible for ensuring vendors and their loads are in full compliance with our procurement standards and expectations.
  • Reports to Location Procurement Manager.
  • Regular scheduled hours are 6:15am - 4:15pm (Mon -Thurs), and 6:15am - 3:15pm (Friday)
  • Saturday work may be required as needed. (Usually with 1 to 2 day notice.)


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • At least six (6) months of experience in manufacturing, farming, agriculture, landscaping, carpentry, mechanical, construction, warehouse, or military environment
  • Experience using a computer for record-keeping and documentation functions
  • Willing and able to work any shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed
  • Willing and able to work in a hot, cold, dusty, and noisy industrial environment
  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations.
  • Willing and able to wear safety equipment, i.e.: safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots, and other PPE as required by specific jobs
  • Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day
