Based at our Danvers, MA Transfer Station location, this position will be responsible for the safe operation of the facility's heavy equipment and ferrous recovery system.

  • We seek a dedicated individual who will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing general labor duties at a municipal solid waste transfer station. The individual fulfilling this role must be flexible to work shifts as assigned, handle special projects assigned by a supervisor and any other related duties. The duties herein are intended to describe the general nature of the work performed by this position and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties and skills.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Perform general site maintenance including, but not limited to yard work, track maintenance, janitorial work and minor repairs

    • Maintain effective equipment checks (pre and post operations)

    • Perform general equipment maintenance and repairs as instructed

    • Maintain various items at the transfer station for continual operation

    • Provide instructions to customer for proper location of disposal on tipping floor

    • Perform inspections effectively and accurately in accordance with state mandated Waste Ban Regulations.

    • Ensure that customers and employees conduct all business in a safe manner and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

    • Perform facility inspection checks as assigned by a Supervisor.

    • Follow and enforce all required Covanta safety policies and procedures.

    Position Requirements

    To be considered for this position, the individual must have a minimum of one (1) year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA along with a High School diploma or equivalent; mechanical, equipment or trade school certificate or training preferred. An individual with familiarity with heavy equipment including, but not limited to forklifts, excavators, front-end loaders, and sweepers is desirable. The individual must be flexible to work different shifts, including weekends.
