Mechanical Engineer (Entry Level)

Advantest Test Solutions, Inc. (ATS) is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Irvine, CA. ATS is a leading provider of massively parallel electronic test systems that includes System Level Test (SLT), burn in and semiconductor/module tests. ATS has an exciting line of high-performance test systems that support the semiconductor industry around the world. This is a unique opportunity for an entry level engineer with good mechanical engineering skill set and test engineering knowledge to work within a cross-functional team environment.

This individual will perform a wide range of mechanical systems engineering functions related to the design, testing, and evaluation of hardware systems for testing electronic devices including semiconductors, photonics and embedded devices. Create new mechanical-electrical designs, support existing designs and improvements and execute through final design review and design validation testing. This individual will also be called upon to resolve any field issues and provide direction to the field team. May be assigned responsibility for various mechanical design projects while being mentored by more senior engineers and asked to present design details and regular status updates to internal Project Engineers and Program Managers.
This role will require traditional mechanical engineering design and analysis skills, and include 3D CAD modeling and detail drawing creation. In addition, creating test plans and operating test equipment in a development lab environment and writing test reports will be required.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Analyze detail design requirements derived from customer requirements.
  • Assist in identifying detail design risk areas and optimization opportunities.
  • Improve and implement mechanical design modifications or upgrades for existing systems and components.
  • Develop and implement electro-mechanical hardware engineering designs for new systems and components.
  • Present designs during internal cross-functional Design Reviews.
  • Develop design validation test specifications and evaluation protocols and
  • Initiate engineering change order requests and drive through Change Control and Release processes.
  • Interpret functional test results and present findings to senior technical staff.
  • Perform electro-mechanical component, assembly and integration testing and final design validation testing.
  • Work as part of a team that includes manufacturing, quality assurance and technical support organizations to establish functional specifications for components and to select vendors/suppliers for purchased parts, materials and assemblies.
  • Recommend and design innovations and improved methods, tools and processes.
  • Act as customer contact on selective technical matters.
  • Work closely with external suppliers and manufacturers to successfully produce parts and assemblies to meet all provided specifications.
  • This is an on-site role in our Irvine, CA office.
  • All other duties and tasks that may be required.
