Compliance & Financial and Regulatory Reporting Specialist

Our Traditional insurance company client business group within Aon's Commercial Risk Solutions team in Burlington, Vermont is looking for a Compliance & Financial and Regulatory Reporting Specialist! The role is hybrid (in office/remote). Our Company is an Insurance Services Provider, and we are seeking conscientious, detailed-oriented people that will be responsible for preparing Premium Tax Reports and various Regulatory filings for our clients in all 51 U.S. jurisdictions. Within a team environment, the "Compliance Specialist" may also be called upon to assist Compliance Management in the preparation of Applications for Insurance Licensure in a specific state or states, or engage in the process of registering client entities with U.S. State Insurance Departments or Secretary of States' Offices. Additionally, the Compliance Specialist will work closely with the financial reporting team and may be called upon to assist with reconciliations and other spreadsheet type work. If you have prior experience working in business compliance or in the insurance or legal sector, we need you on our team. Your goal will be to deliver consistent, accurate filings for our clients so that our Company can fulfill its business ethos of "Client First". About the Role Prepare Quarterly and Annual Premium Tax Returns and Regulatory Compliance Filings for Company clients in approximately 26 states Collaborate with the Compliance Management team to ensure that the entire company is aware of any changes of state compliance requirements and issues (as discovered in connection with your primary responsibility of preparing Premium Tax Returns and Regulatory Filings); develop an agreed upon plan of action to notify your "next level up" of any such changes or matters of concern Build and maintain contact lists within State agencies Develop a plan of action to initially address a compliance violation or other state notice of deficiency in accordance with established company policy Proactively review your own work processes and practices to identify weaknesses or deficiencies and report any areas of concern or means of improvement to Compliance Management Accurately file and/or save work product (notes, commentary, prepared filings) to appropriate Client folders after final review by Compliance Management Provide administrative support to the Compliance Management/Entity managers upon request What are we looking for? Additionally, we are looking for the following suggested experience: Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; able to identify problems and solutions Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work optimally in a team environment Strong research, analytical and critical thinking skills Digital literacy experience, including: Microsoft Office Suite; specifically Excel spreadsheets, Word processing, PowerPoint, e-mail and internet tools Preferred familiarity with administrative procedures and Accounts Payable function and as a plus, familiarity with protocols of state agencies Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field, advanced degree is a plus Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of industry experience.
