Sallis, MD Position Overview: Under the direction of the District Sales Manager, the Store Manager works one on one with our customers using our consultative sales process to find equipment solutions to best meet their fitness needs while working to achieve their revenue, gross margin and sales goals. Additionally, the Store Manager must ensure adequate coverage of store during hours of operation, training of staff and maintain overall store appearance. Responsibilities: * Ensure adequate, competent coverage of the store during all hours of operation * Review training and skill levels of staff and take appropriate steps to fulfill training needs * Ensure compliance of all store employees with established security, sales and recordkeeping procedures and practices * Meet personal and store sales and gross profit goals through personal efforts as well as proper supervision and direction of store team * Monitor sales results for potential improvements and variances from plan and take appropriate improvement actions * Maintain strong customer relationships and make recommendations for attracting new customers * Respond readily to customer complaints and comments in a manner which resolves the issue while maintaining company guidelines * Work closely with customers in a consultative sales process to ensure the customer needs are met and that customer relationships are positive, productive and profitable * Ensure the quality servicing of customers by personal involvement and intelligent solutions * Identify quality, timeliness or perceived value problems reported by customers, as well as requests for new products and services * Comply with established security, sales, and record keeping procedures and practices * Properly record, track and secure inventory from receipt to sale * Ensure that all cash, check, credit card and financing transactions are properly recorded, reconciled and deposited in compliance with company procedures * Make recommendations as to the most effective store layout possible * Ensure that in-store merchandising is effective, appealing and keeping with company standards * Keep store inventory and products properly labeled, tagged and priced * Handle administrative duties, including staff scheduling, Fitness Consultants, personnel reports, disciplinary conversations and recommendations, etc. * Coordinate store's sales promotion activities and campaigns, in concert with District Sales Manager and according to company guidelines * Ensure that proper image is portrayed through personal appearance, maintenance and upkeep of the building and grounds * Make sure that the purchase of any used equipment is prudent and the company's best interest * Contributes to positive employee morale and initiates whatever procedures are necessary to improve and maintain a positive level. * Delegate responsibilities to store employees to ensure they understand their tasks and roles and are accountable * Keep the District Sales Manager informed as to all pertinent factors affecting the assigned responsibilities * Monitor competitive activity in the market and identify new competition and/or changes in competitor's activities * Identify quality, timeliness or perceived value problems reported by customers, as well as requests for new products and services * Develop a solid understanding of the merchandise offered by the store and the benefits by studying manuals, literature, videos, and other available sources of information * Stay current on industry trends * Perform any other duties assigned by the District Sales Manager Requirements
Education: * Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or related field is preferred; however, extensive experience in retail or business to business/business to consumer sales industry may substitute. * High school diploma or equivalent is required. Experience: * 2 plus years of prior sales success is required. * 1 year of experience as a Fitness Consultant at Johnson Fitness & Wellness is desired.
