Job Summary
Participates in the planning and delivery of academic advising services and
programs which promote comprehensive educational opportunities for
undergraduate students in the School of Arts, Technology, and Emerging
Communication ( ATEC).
Cooperates and demonstrates the ability to work effectively and collaborate
with administrators, faculty, and staff in various campus offices as well as a
diverse student population in providing for academic advising needs of
individuals or groups of students.
* Demonstrate ability to work as a team member.
* Knowledge and understanding of university policies and procedures,
academic requirements, and campus resources.
* Advise students about the development of educational plan options,
university policies and resources available.
* Ability to use multiple computer systems including PeopleSoft, OnBase,
StudentBook, and well as Microsoft Office.
* Ability to identify student's needs in order to make appropriate referrals;
maintain confidentiality of student records.
* Analyze student records in preparation for appointments or walk-ins;
respond to student emails in a timely manner
* Responsible for understanding and interpreting the requirements and
academic options in a specific area and in other campus departments to
facilitate the student's pursuit of fields of interest.
* Possess strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
strong organizational and management skills
* Attend training sessions or professional development workshops and
disseminate information to staff as well as participating in student success initiatives.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree and Four (4) years academic advising, counseling, higher education, social work, human services with students, young adults or adolescents, or related experience.

or Master's degree and 2 years of related work experience
Preferred Education and Experience
Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent
interpersonal skills and professional demeanor. Ability to effectively work
with diverse populations. Experience managing confidential data. Proficient
in Microsoft Office and an ability to learn new programs/technologies.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and to successfully identify, organize
and complete multiple tasks independently and within a team environment.
Keen attention to detail and superior organizational skills.
Experience providing academic advising or counseling services in higher
education. Understanding of the functions of higher education including
academic advising and student affairs. Knowledge of student development
theories, advising strategies and/or best practices in student advising.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Cooperates with administrators, faculty members and appropriate staff in
providing for academic advising needs of individuals or groups of students.
Advise students about the development of educational plan options and
resources available. Notate advising sessions and information online and/or
in hard copy. Ability to identify student's needs in order to make appropriate
referrals. Audit degree plans as required. Ensure requirements are met for
each graduation applicant. Register students for classes as necessary.
Assist with the completion of any forms or paperwork as necessitated by the
needs of each student. Participates in student success initiatives.
Participates in appropriate professional conferences and individual
professional development. Responsible for understanding and interpreting
the requirements and academic options in a specific area and in other
campus departments to facilitate the student's pursuit of fields of interest.

This role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval.
