PURPOSE/SUMMARY OF JOB:

These positions are funded through a U.S. Department of Education Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program (STEM) Title III grant (Award # P031C210103). The STEM Coaches are responsible for a variety of activities related to intense support services for students in underserved populations interested in STEM fields. These position will provide one-on-one support services primarily for minority, low-income, first generation, and/or at academic risk students in the STEM programs. These positions will assist students in preparation for transfer to a four-year university, assist in applying for financial aid, engage in crucial career conversations, provide tutoring services, and offer success strategies for students. The STEM Coaches are responsible for maintaining complete records on activities and numbers of students served for reporting purposes. These positions shall perform all duties while promoting opportunities for inclusion, expressing the valuing of differences, and regularly demonstrating the college's commitment to the Guiding Principles. Must travel as necessary to carry out job duties and participate in occasional evening and weekend commitments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution. A combination of experience and/or education may substitute for the degree.
  • Experience in an academic advising role, or closely related activity.
  • Experience and enthusiasm for working with underserved student populations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of STEM fields.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, prioritize, and effectively execute multiple initiatives, programs, and events. Able to meet established deadlines.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills with ability to establish and develop productive and collegial relationships, collaboration, and communication.
  • Able to resolve complex problems and student issues, as well as work with confidential and sensitive information and records.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office, presentation software, and an ability to utilize database tools to track monitor and organize students and communications.
  • Occasional long and irregular hours necessitated by special projects, compliance with deadlines, length of institutional day and week, and committee service, including the ability to participate in evening and weekend commitments as necessary.
  • Ability to travel as necessary to carry out job duties.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution in counseling, student services, or a related field.
  • Bilingual, preferred in Spanish.
  • Experience working in higher education, especially in a community college and/or federal grant program.


Anticipated Start Date: April 2022

Salary and Benefits:

$39,800 to $46,200, based on education, skills and experience. Benefits include health, life, dental insurance, LTD & benefit package in accordance with Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System policies. No relocation assistance is provided.

About Morgan Community College (MCC):

MCC is located on I-76, 80 miles northeast of Denver and approximately 100 miles east of Rocky Mountain National Park.
