FSS McHenry West Warehouse Distribution Full Time Regular Baker - Taylor, a distributor of books to public libraries, has been in business for over 180 years. Baker - Taylor is the premier worldwide distributor of books and digital content. The Material Handler performs duties to support the Inventory operation by preparing and transporting materials throughout the warehouse that are needed for the Order Filling and Receiving departments. Responsibilities include: Retrieve stacks of empty totes using a manual pallet jack for use in the Order Filling and Receiving departments. Moving palletized carton stock to the Inventory department for use in Order Filling. Prepare cartons for Order Filling by taping closed the bottom of the cartons and inserting a cardboard liner. Stock palletized pick locations and remove books from cartons as needed for Order Filling. Route titles between the Returns, Cataloging Services, and Purchasing departments as scheduled or directed. Empty warehouse garbage receptacles in the Inventory departments as needed and dispose of into compactor. Collect cardboard from the Inventory department bins and bale for recycling. Basic usage and understanding of the English language speaking, reading - writing) Basic math skills Basic computer skills (general use) Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds continuously and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to stand or walk up to 8 hours (with breaks) Must be able to walk for upwards of 8hrs / day (with breaks) Must be able to push / pull a wheeled cart containing work materials weighing 5 - 150 pounds
