Regional Account Manager, Pork

POSITION SUMMARY

The Regional Account Manager West Region is responsible for being the primary contact and key relationship manager for assigned strategic pork producer and veterinary accounts. He/she is responsible for maximizing Zoetis sales with assigned strategic account(s) as well as accounts within the geographical area. This person is a trusted business partner to Zoetis customers and responsible for developing an intimate knowledge of the Customer's business model, in addition to serving as the account "expert or quarterback", helping to coordinate all Zoetis support activities with the assigned account(s) and the geogrphcial area assigned. This position can require 50 % overnight travel that will vary (more or less) with the area size and customer needs and plans.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for developing and growing business partnerships with all business units of the assigned customer(s). This approach will include but not be limited to:

* In-depth understanding of the customer as demonstrated and communicated through a comprehensive account business plan

* Conducting activities and interactions that deepen our strategic partnerships and Zoetis portfolio growth within assigned accounts

* Demonstrating the value of our portfolio through a thorough understanding of our customer'sneeds segments they sell into and the steps necessary to demonstrate value.

* Effective use and data entry of all appropriate CRM functionality

* Develops, coordinates and guides the Account(s) strategy, which is designed to position Zoetis as a "Trusted Advisor" and optimize revenue for all key products, within assigned Account(s).

* Leads all aspects of the Strategic Account's business plan development and execution.

* Negotiates and manages contracts, programs, Product Experience Initiatives (PEI) and Value Models with the assigned account(s) to optimize business results.

* Provides insight to Zoetis management on account(s) market, business and growth strategies to assist in defining long term relationship strategies and supporting product promotions.

* Coordinates with Field Force and Headquarters resources to effectively create and leverage synergies and opportunities between Marketing, Techncial Services, the Field Force and the Strategic Account(s).

* Coordinates within the account(s) to understand and interact with all levels of production, management, ownership, service, and leadership.

* Supports geographical customers assigned to area of coverage but headquartered with in other territories.

* Team player and participant in developing and executing account plans for customers within assigned geographical area.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Works with all relevant Zoetis stakeholders/depts. (including but not limited to Sales, Vet Ops, Outcomes Research, Marketing Team, Pricing Team, Business Operations, Pork Production Specialists, Pork Leadership Team, Zoetis Sr. Management, Application Services) to influence product/service positioning working at all to time support the account(s) and Zoetis best interest.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

* Minimum 4 year Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science, Ag Business, Pre-Vet, Ag Economics, Marketing, or similar degree

* Minimum 5 years of Sales and/or Pork/Livestock Production Experience

* Successful track record of working with and managing sales with large livestock production companies

* MBA, MS degree is a plus

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

* Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ability to learn Zoetis Systems)

* Experience with modern pork production practices

* Good communication and group and one-on-one presentation skills

* Negotiation skills experience and success

* Existing or developing technical background in animal health practices and products,

* Basic and willing to develop understanding of business relationships between all facets of the pork productions chain including but not limited to the following: production, veterinarians, packers, processors, feed milling, nutritionist, sales, marketing, distribution, and consumer food service and retail.

* Developing organizational, account management and people skills.

* Demonstrated ability to be a team player with problem solving skills

* Ability to orchestrate the effective use of Zoetis resources to meet customer needs

* Personal accountability and willingness to support the Zoetis Culture

PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Ability to work in modern pork production facilities, climbing gates, walking pens, working among pigs of all sizes and ages

Ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs.

Implementation of modern pork production practices

Ability to travel with varying need for overnight stays based on account location and need

Ability for limited but some weekend/evening work based on customer and business meeting needs.

Can require 50 % overnight travel that will vary (more or less) with the area size and customer needs and plans.

Role can be located in IA (Des Moines) Area
