Job Summary |
This position will work in in the DeKalb County Extension Office located in Fort Payne, Alabama.
This is a one year limited term position. Continued employment is based on the continuation of extramural funding and is subject to renewal on an annual basis. This position will not begin work until October 1, 2022 or after.
The Alabama Cooperative Extension System Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - Education (
SNAP-Ed) Agent Assistant will work in and serve clients in DeKalb County. This position provides direct education to eligible youth and adults with the goal of changing individual behavior related to healthy eating and physical activity. In addition, this position engages with agencies, organizations and communities to implement improved policies, systems and environmental strategies to create opportunities for change around healthy food and physical activity access and appeal. Performing evaluation and reporting of all activities also is an integral part of this position.
The
SNAP-Ed Agent Assistant will report to the County Extension Coordinators; receive initial and continuous training from county and state staff; follow
SNAP-Ed guidelines; utilize
SNAP-Ed obesity prevention procedures; follow established guidelines as required by Auburn University, Alabama Cooperative Extension System, Alabama Department of Human Resources and
NIFA/
USDA; assist with routine office work; and perform other duties as assigned.
The Agent Assistant will have a 40-hour work week schedule and periodically provide evening and/or weekend hours.

Essential Functions |
- Must have effective communication and human relation skills.

- An understanding of basic mathematical skills; excellent organizational skills to efficiently and accurately maintain records.

Level II requires a high school diploma or equivalent; six (6) years of experience in the organization and/or presentation of pre-designed educational programs/services, customer service, administrative support/clerical or related experience;
Salary Range: $33,400 -$46,800 |
