HX5 is currently seeking a Linux/Windows Network Engineer to join our growing IT team at Eglin AFB, Florida.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Capable of solving major problems in a narrow specialty field, or over a broad scope of specialties.
  • Exercise a high degree of originality and sound judgment in formulating, evaluating, and correlating broad management or engineering/scientific concepts as applicable, guiding the analysis of unique problems and developing new and improved techniques and methods.
  • Comfortable working on high-visibility or mission critical aspects of a given program and performs all functional duties independently.
  • Perform work involving the exploration of subject area, definition of scope, and selection of system anomalies requiring further investigation.
  • Apply intensive knowledge to problems and makes independent decisions.
  • Experienced with the Microsoft Windows 10 operating system, Windows Server 2012 R2, 2016, and 2019 operating system, Windows applications, as well as network peripherals such as printers and scanners.
  • Highly experienced with the RedHat Enterprise Server and Workstation operating systems.
  • Proven experience developing, maintaining, and managing a Linux high-performance computing environment (HPCE) meeting a modeling and simulation requirement
  • Experience with the NetApp network storage device or similar technology
  • Experience incorporating a Windows environment within a Linux network architecture or vice versa
  • Knowledge of a wide range of telecommunications theories, concepts, principles, practices, procedures, DoD policies, standards, and operational requirements.
  • Knowledge of system architecture, integration techniques, and testing methods.
  • Knowledge of basic electronics theory and operating principles, the application of existing and planned technology to communications requirements, and equipment interoperability and compatibility.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to identify, direct, or coordinate actions required in providing needed service.
  • Ability to stay well informed on rapidly changing technology, to evaluate its possible impact on organization missions, and to develop plans to satisfy requirements.


Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant degree field, fifteen (15) years of professional experience and IAT Level II certification (ex. Sec+,, CySA+); or
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant degree field, thirteen (13) years of professional experience and IAT Level III certification (ex. CASP,+, CISSP); or
  • Master's degree in a relevant degree field, thirteen (13) years of professional experience and IAT Level II certification (ex. Sec+,, CySA+); or
  • Master's degree in a relevant degree field, eleven (11) years of professional experience and IAT Level III certification (ex. CASP,+, CISSP)


Preferences:



  • Linux certification


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:



  • This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week and offers a flexible work schedule Monday through Friday during core business hours.


Other Position Requirements:



  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship is a requirement for this position.
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance prior to date of hire, with an investigation date within the past six (6) years.
