Lawrence Berkeley National Lab's (LBNL) Energy Analysis & Environmental Impacts (EAEI) Division has two openings for Postdoctoral Scholars to join the team. We perform innovative research to achieve clean, affordable, and accessible energy systems. In this role, you will participate in several multi-disciplinary projects that combine process engineering, techno-economic analysis, and technology roadmapping to understand the potential of emerging negative emissions technologies and energy storage technologies including hydrogen storage, thermal energy storage, electrochemical processes, carbon dioxide capture and storage, and waste heat utilization. This position will conduct rigorous process engineering and prospective techno-economic analysis for benchmarking and modeling system performance metrics (upfront and running costs, energy balance, thermodynamics, water efficiency, scalability, operation logistics). These metrics will be used to screen both emerging technologies and viable end-uses, as well as support optimization of processes and integration at a regional level. What You Will Do:
