The Senior Electrical Engineer (SEE) is responsible for the engineering development and design of electrical, power, lighting, fire alarm, and lightning protection system construction documents associated with new buildings and renovations for consulting design projects, and design-build projects.The SEE will oversee and mentor junior electrical engineers, designers, and computer-aided design (CAD) technicians. Associated responsibilities include but are not limited to engineering design of electrical systems including CAD drafting, specification writing, cost estimating, field investigations and construction site visits, energy anaylanalysisctrical load calculations and SKM modeling, lighting calculations, and coordination with others. Duties also include performing site visits, construction site visits, and coordination with other disciplines such as mechanical and plumbing.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the design of electrical, power, lighting, fire alarm, and lightning protection systems for new and renovated building construction that will be constructed by the Owner's contractors (traditional engineering consulting services)
  • Lead and manage the design of electrical, power, lighting, fire alarm, and lightning protection systems for building retrofit construction on design-build projects that will be constructed for the Owner
  • Conduct studies and analyses of electrical systems documenting the conditions, presenting cost-effective solutions, and generating reports with recommendations
  • Prepare project specifications along with supporting information
  • Conduct select engineering calculations for equipment and systems sizing. Perform load, photometric, voltage drop, short circuit, and harmonic calculations using computer modeling programs such as SKM, AGI, and Excel
  • Perform/attend job site visits to verify and document existing construction conditions and to observe and document the contractor's work.
  • Conduct energy audit walk-thru of facilities to document existing conditions and identify retrofit opportunities for energy conservation. Write detailed reports of investigated lighting and other electrical retrofit energy conservation measures (ECM) to be used to develop an Investment Grade Audit (IGA) to serve as the basis for a performance contract

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering
  • Registered as an electrical professional engineer is required
  • Minimum 10years of experience for the Senior Engineer position in Electrical systems design including; power, lighting, lightning protection, fire alarm, and other systems design. Experience in solar photovoltaic (PV) systems is a plus
  • Experience in energy audits is desirable
  • AutoCAD/Revit proficiency preferred
  • Able to interact effectively across organizational boundaries to achieve goals and meet deadlines
  • Good knowledge of local and national building codes and standards including; State Building Codes, NFPA Codes, USBC LEED standards, and ASHRAE 90.1
  • Able to plan and manage the development and production of conceptual, preliminary, and construction documents for the construction of electrical systems including; power, lighting, lightning protection, fire alarm, and PV systems
  • Experience in solar, wind, or battery storage is a plus
  • Experience with HelioScope or PVsyst a plus

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in New York is $104,000 - $156,000 The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
