The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).

JOB SUMMARY :

Under the direction of the Clinical Director or Staff Psychiatrist - Outpatient, this position provides direct psychiatric care to patients assigned to outpatient psychiatric facilities within the UTMB sector of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :



  • Provides direct psychiatric care to patients assigned to psychiatric outpatient facilities, under the supervision of the Clinical Director or Staff Psychiatrist - Outpatient.

  • Regularly participates in clinical consultations with the facility mental health and medical staff.

  • Conducts psychiatric assessments and develops treatment plans for assigned patients under the supervision of the Clinical Director or Staff Psychiatrist - Outpatient.

  • Participates in the psychiatry QI/QM program.

  • Provides emergency psychiatric call.

  • Works all assigned hours as required.

  • Adheres to internal controls established for department.

  • Performs related duties as required.


WORK ENVIRONMENT :

Work environment is located within the confines of a prison, jail or juvenile detention center. Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPE RIENCE :

Graduation from an Accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program and current licensure to practice in the State of Texas. Mental health experience required. Current BLS-HP required.

Correctional experience is preferred.

Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
