Conceptualizes, designs, implements and directs research projects focused generally on how cancer treatments impact physiology to alter neurobiology and behavior, specifically on how fecal gut microbiome may be used as an intervention to ameliorate chemotherapy side effects using both mouse models to study mechanisms and human subjects for translation; develops, adopts and implements new laboratory methods; develops hypotheses and experimental approaches to hypothesis testing; plans, designs and conducts complex experiments in mice and culture preparations; maintains and develops mouse colonies; extracts, compiles, analyzes and evaluates data; prepares figures and writes manuscripts, articles, abstracts and research reports for publication in peer-reviewed journals; may attend and present research findings at scientific conferences; develops, writes and submits grant proposals of original research as principal investigator or co-principal investigator to extramural funding agencies to obtain salary and research support from outside funding agencies; participates in the training of post-doctoral researchers, research assistants, students and technicians within the laboratory; participates in supervision of students; participates in lab management.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirement:

Doctorate (Professional) or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 3 years of post-doctoral research experience in biology-related field. Experience presenting work at national and international meetings. Experience training students in laboratory techniques. Multiple first-authored peer-reviewed publications. Experience with in vivo rodent techniques, general molecular/cellular biology, and protein biochemistry techniques required. Requires successful completion of a background check; Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

Desired Experience:

Research experience in gut microbiology, neurobiology, neuroimmunology, behavioral neuroscience, and/or circadian biology is preferred. Experience with microbiome analyses and/or clinical trial execution and/or advanced statistical big data analyses also preferred. Experience writing grants is preferable.
