Department:Street Lighting & Unmetered Services

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

Minimum rate: $41.17

Overall Purpose:

Under semi-direct supervision, performs group street light replacement and miscellaneous maintenance work on street lighting equipment.

Job Responsibilities:



  • Replaces lamps on a group replacement schedule or because of premature burnout or breakage on series or multiple circuits (either energized or de- energized); cleans or replaces reflectors and globes; inspects and makes minor repairs on street lighting fixtures, mast arms and wiring.


  • Replaces street light equipment such as mast arms, fixtures, photo cells and other related equipment.


  • Maintains supply of materials on the truck for the group street light replacement program or miscellaneous maintenance work.


  • Prepares daily work reports on lamps, globes and photo cells replaced and maintenance work performed, reporting any unusual conditions and performs other related clerical work as required.


  • On occasion assists other personnel and performs work on such assignment within the limits of his normal duties and qualifications.


  • May be required to handle customer "No Light" complaints in the area in which he is working by replacing fuses and determining the probable cause of service interruption.


  • Drives a vehicle to and from job locations and is responsible for maintaining the vehicle in good operating condition and performing minor maintenance when required.


  • Operates aerial lift equipment and performs all required daily maintenance and operating checks on the equipment.


  • When required, instructs and directs the work of assigned personnel.


  • Performs work related to the above as required or assigned.



Education / Experience Requirements:



  • Education equivalent to graduation from high school.


  • Two years experience in line construction work and shall be currently qualified as a 2/C Lineworker or currently qualified as a restricted Lineworker.


  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and follow route and circuit maps.


  • Demonstrated familiarity with established Company safety practices and regulations.


  • Must have appropriate Pennsylvania State Driver's License and ability to obtain appropriate Company Operator's License.
