Any information not provided by Van Meter is inaccurate* Summary: The Regional Distribution Center Team Member plays a crucial role in supporting our purpose of creating lasting value for those we serve by performing a collection of tasks to support the Kansas City location and serve as a resource for our customers. This position may serve one or a combination of the following functions for the branch location and will perform a variety of warehouse duties. Regardless of the function being performed, this individual always displays excellent customer service skills and a commitment to quality and efficiency. This individual promotes our culture, our 5 P's and our purpose to create lasting value for those we serve. Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions: Adhere to all company safety policies and initiatives Process orders with an RF gun or scanner, cut wire to customer specifications and manually pick conduit in an efficient and accurate manner Provide feedback on adequate stock levels Assist in maintaining warehouse cleanliness and order Cross-train in other departments within the regional operations team Support team members by participating in team lifts Unload trucks and receive in ALL material into our warehouse management system accurately Use forklift, stock chaser, or other motorized warehouse vehicles in a safe manner. Participate in operations process improvements Prepares the product for delivery to customers and/or other branch locations by palletizing, banding and labeling the product Ensure all customer orders are completed in an efficient and safe manner Provide coverage in areas of the warehouse in which staffing is low and work level is high Facilitate the returns process Perform cycle counts, maintain inventory integrity and location accuracy Process all customer returns as needed Safely operate all warehouse equipment, including wire cutting machinery Critical Success Factors: Ability to learn, grow, and adapt to change Execute duties with the highest regard for safety, continuous improvement, and cost reduction Strong customer focus orientation Ability build strong relationships with customers, vendors and suppliers Ability to work collaboratively with all areas in the branch Self motivated with strong problem solving ability Willingness to give and receive constructive feedback Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to analyze workload and establish priorities with time sensitive deadlines Ability to analyze, identify & then follow up to resolve discrepancies Ability to develop rapport with customers and peers Ability to effectively and safely navigate a motorized cart and fork lift Exhibits a strong work ethic and a positive attitude Detail orientated Dependable Job Requirements/Specifications: High School Diploma or GED required Previous distribution experience preferred Previous customer service experience preferred Ability to lift 100 lbs Demonstrated computer skills Able to work with Excel documents Knowledge of Eclipse preferred Knowledge of handheld RF scanner is a plus Ability to operate lift truck equipment Work Environment & Physical Demands: Consistent, more than 2/3s of the time Works alone Non-standard shift work Extended day Frequent, from 1/3 to 2/3s of the time Sitting STanding Walking Lifting Carrying Pushing Bending @ the waist Twisting upper body Driving Team lifting Works with others Cold Heat Temperature changes Work indoors Some, less than 1/3 of the time Climbing Balancing Kneeling Crouching Crawling Reaching Working with hands Working with fingers Talking Hearing Vision acuity-near Vision acuity-far Depth perception Field of vision Vision adjustment Color vision Customer contact Wet Humid Noise Work outdoors Mechanical hazards Occasional, less than 1 time per week Fumes Odors Dusts Mists Gases Poor ventilation The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by an incumbent.
