As a member of the Satellite Connectivity Group, you will work on the satellite network that enables connectivity to iPhone when off the grid without cellular or Wi-Fi coverage. Every day, Apple customers use Emergency SOS via satellite to access emergency assistance when they are in need of help and have no other means to communicate. You will have the unique and exciting opportunity to shape this and other critical services, to the benefit and safety of millions of Apple device users. We are looking for a motivated Engineering Program Manager to serve as the technical lead ensuring our suppliers are designing, qualifying, and building communications satellites to our exacting standards. As part of a team you will ensure requirements are satisfied, serve as a supplier liaison, and provide technical input into commercial discussions. In this role you will individually and through a team of reporting EPMs, help define, prioritize, drive, and report on system development, test, integration, deployment, and operations efforts. By strategically balancing an attention to details with a grasp of the "big-picture,"you will be instrumental in helping the overall team realize key objectives across a diverse array of technologies.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience with the design, development, and integration of communications satellites
  • Experience as a customer within the space industry
  • Background in electro-mechanical systems development
  • Demonstrated program management skills in environments that include both internal and external contributors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to adapt communication style as required for different audiences
  • Self-motivated and dedicated, with demonstrated creative and critical thinking, and outstanding attention to detail


Description

Our ideal candidate is someone who can evaluate the maturity of multiple parallel technical workstreams and prioritize action to ensure the end product meets programmatic and technical requirements. This candidate will work with internal and supplier teams of specialists to monitor development schedules to realize these goals, as well as collaborate with cross-functional partners within Apple to drive technical alignment, schedule alignment, and issue resolution.

Education & Experience

10+ years work experience in technical program management, including prior experience leading a team of engineers 5+ years work experience in the space industry
