Overview:

This rolewill be part of a dynamic team supportingproduction of a highquality product. The incumbentwillperform testing on finished product, in-process, or raw material samples in either the chemistry or microbiology lab to provide analytical information to support the manufacturing process and ensure product meets specification and consumer safety standards.Position requires ability to operate on rotating shift schedule including weekends.

Technical/Functional



  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration procedures on analytical equipment
  • Prepare and qualify reagents as required
  • Assist in labeling non-conforming material as needed
  • Analyze and report results via SAP and communicate/present test results and pertinent information to appropriate persons
  • Conduct contamination testing using Mass Spectrometry
  • Prepare samples for shipment following regulatory requirements
  • Conduct special testing and analysis in conjunction with new product development, trouble-shooting of complaint samples and investigation/analysis of off-spec products and raw materials.
  • Assist in the technical expertise and knowledge of analytical chemistry; provide analytical feedback to production employees
  • Ensure samples in the control laboratory are processed fully, accurately, posted and done so in a timely manner.



Quality



  • Follow all standard lab procedures and testing methods
  • Comply with ISO 9001 standards, both in the laboratory and in the plant
  • Maintain accurate records of all test results and report them in a timely manner in alignment with the quality system


Safety/Health/Environment




  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Conduct all lab procedures in a manner that protects the safety & health of self & other individuals
  • Support the site behavioral based safety program by participating in observations and providing constructive feedback for safety improvement. Carry out safety risk assessments for lab activities
  • Take personal responsibility to raise safety concerns and be part of the resolution
  • Ensures disposal of all laboratory wastes is within compliance for regulatory and plant guideline
  • Lead and participate in safety audits pertaining to the laboratory and plant.



Communication




  • Proactively communicate issues and ideas for improvement
  • Ensure all key stakeholders in your areas of responsibility have required information in a timely manner
  • Provide and/or respond to information requests in a timely and complete manner
  • Demonstrate an attitude of respect and professional interaction with others



Required Education:




  • Bachelor's degree preferred in chemistry, biology, or related fields of study or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • 6 months to 2 years experience in a testing laboratory or equivalent with experience in a chemistry lab preferred
