Job Summary

News12 is looking for a creative, driven, and experienced Sr Special Projects Video PrEditor to join the News12 Originals Team. This individual will play an important role in both the development and execution of the network's programming and strengthening its brand, with a focus on producing, shooting, and editing multi-platform, audience-driven content. This role will handle multiple projects with the Originals team and partner directly with the News and Marketing teams to ensure creative vision for all content is realized in the end-product and furthers the network's mission statement.The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, work well under pressure, and adhere to tight deadlines and established budget. At the same time, you must be adaptable and flexible, and a team player who is able to mix easily and work effectively in our small and highly collaborative team.

Responsibilities
  • Understand, follow, and exhibit the process of creative, high-quality videography and advanced video editing to deliver dynamic and engaging Originals content including, but not limited to: episodics, documentaries, lifestyle talk shows, live news events, and network specials.
  • Create multi-platform (linear, OTT, digital, social), audience-driven content using compelling video and sound that maintains the voice of the network.
  • Develop and produce both small- and large-scale shoots from pre-production through post-production and delivery while adhering to established budget.
  • Be an active participant in the storytelling process, including helping to develop story ideas, researching, and planning segments.
  • Build show graphics and elements in rundown software
  • Be creative in new ways to produce and deliver content to viewers
  • Capitalize on material from multi-camera shoots including DSLR cameras, iPhones, GoPro video, and various other formats to elevate storytelling.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with multiple different departments, including news, programming, and marketing, to meet deliverable deadlines and expectations.
  • Adapt to ever-changing industry technology.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Mass Communications, related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of videography, producing, and editing experience in broadcast or cable television
  • Strong proficiency in use of production equipment and editing software including, but not limited to:
    • DSLR cameras
    • Editing software (Avid editing systems, Adobe Premiere/Premiere Pro, Photoshop and After Effects)
    • Audio mixing systems/ audio record systems
    • Graphics integration
  • Knowledge of production and post-production techniques
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities at once and prioritize without jeopardizing deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to thrive and problem solve in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Technical proficiency with PCs and Macs
  • Experience with Electronic News Production Systems (ENPS) preferred
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds of weight for an extended period of time and physical ability to move quickly while carrying equipment when needed
  • Drone pilot experience/licensing is a plus

The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $77,112.00-$126,684.00/ year. The rate/Range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
