Overview
The Vermont Department of Health has a dynamic opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced public health professional who wants to make a difference in the health of communities in beautiful central Vermont. We are seeking a well-organized and energetic Nutritionist with great communication and supervision skills to complete our public health team in the Barre District Office. We seek a passionate individual to join our leadership team as the Nutritionist III. You will oversee local implementation of the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) supplemental nutrition and education program and supervise this WIC team. This WIC supervisor position supports staff while also maintaining program administration and quality in accordance with federal and state guidelines, as well as provide direct services to WIC-participating families in our clinics. The Nutritionist III will maintain collaborative relationships with a variety of community partners, our WIC Central Office team, healthcare partners, and Agency of Human Services staff. Major responsibilities include: This position also works with a multi-disciplinary public health team on emergency preparedness. Duties are performed under the supervision of the Public Health Services District Director. The Nutritionist III is an instrumental part of a collaborative, supportive management team. This position,Public Health Nutritionist III (Job Requisition #48651), is open to all State employees and external applicants. Duties primarily performed in public health organization setting or in outlying service sites. Travel to outlying sites will require a driver's license. Private means of transportation may be required. Occasional travel to statewide trainings required. Possible travel in difficult weather conditions. There is considerable interaction with staff, clients and the general public. At times of public health emergencies (floods, infectious disease outbreaks, etc.) individuals may be expected to assist. Physical demands vary with the position; generally limited to carrying equipment needed to conduct clinic and education activities. Employees work with a variety of clients and may have contact with potentially dangerous and combative individuals as well as a wide variety of illnesses. Certain functions may require duty outside of normal work hours. Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in nutrition, nutritional sciences, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or public health nutrition AND three (3) years of professional experience in public health nutrition or community health nutrition including one (1) year or more at a supervisory level OR leading a group or team. OR Bachelor's degree in nutrition, nutritional sciences, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or public health nutrition AND five (5) years or more of professional experience in public health nutrition or community health nutrition including one (1) year or more at a supervisory level OR leading a group or team.
