DataBank is seeking a Director of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to lead and grow our EHS programs. This position will focus on developing, planning, coordinating and directing EHS activities to ensure employee and site visitor engagement and regulatory compliance. This position will also implement and manage an environmental management system to protect human health and the environment. A successful candidate will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of EHS-related regulations, be detail-oriented and possess strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Foster a culture of safety and compliance throughout the company through policies, training, and initiatives aligned with our overall sustainability and Environment, Social Governance (ESG) programs.
  • Manage, advise, and collaborate with Safety Committee to develop, communicate, coordinate and implement EHS goals and initiatives.
  • Maintain a strong awareness of EHS?issues and trends, including continued EHS training. Educate internal partners on EHS?areas of focus.
  • Develop and implement environmental management system (EMS) aligned with ISO 14001 to ensure continual improvement of our environmental programs.
  • Work with operations, engineering, and construction teams to fully integrate and maintain EMS and other EHS-related procedures.?
  • Ensure all EHS-related regulations and compliance are met or exceeded.
  • Work with internal teams and contracted consultants to complete required reporting for OH&S, Tier II, SPCC, emissions and other EHS requirements.
  • Measure, track and analyze EHS performance and communicate outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the employee development and operations teams to prepare and schedule training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
  • Coordinate regular safety committee meetings and lead Safety Committee initiatives.
  • Work with learning and development to create safety training pathways for operations staff.
  • Respond to customer and investor EHS-related inquiries and requests.
  • Provide and maintain a reasonably healthy working environment, safe efficient facilities and equipment, safe work systems, procedures, and any necessary safety devices and personal protective equipment.
  • Review DataBank EHS policy annually and update as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in environmental engineering, safety management, or similar.
  • Experienced in construction and building-related environmental management.
  • OSHA or similar EHS certification.
  • A minimum of two years' experience as an EHS coordinator.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant regulations and standards such as OSHA, EPA, and ISO.
  • Strong leadership and training abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Acute attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
