The Salvation Army will consider requests for exemptions from any such requirements on either religious or medical grounds. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SCOPE OF POSITION: Responsible for supporting the programmatic aspects of our emergency shelter for survivors of domestic violence and their children. This position will provide shelter supportive services in conjunction with and in the absence of the Shelter Manager. The position will ensure that the WWCS Handbook and policies and procedures are being carried out appropriately. Support the needs of direct service staff for the WWCS to create a trauma informed program where survivors can realize their potential for healing and growth as we work together to end domestic violence. The daily activities of the shelter will be within the purview and influence of the Shelter Coordinator. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Support, train, and collaborate with direct service staff. Supervision is a variety of activities, moderate in complexity. SCHEDULE: This full-time commitment typically requires 80 hours per bi-weekly pay period. With approval, the staff will establish a standard workweek taking into consideration the essential duties of this position, the mission of the department, and of the Salvation Army. This position will help cover vacant shifts at the front desk as needed. This position is not remote. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: Preferred: A Bachelor's Degree in human services, non-profit management, other human services related fields. Priority will be given to applicants with a combined social services and business experience. 4 years working in the human services field can substitute for an BA Degree. Two to four years' experience within the human service field, specifically within the context of gender-based violence. Experience in social services and personnel management. Demonstrated experience in understanding the intersectionality, equity, inclusion, and diversity issues within the Portland community and within the gender-based violence community. Considered: Equivalent work and life experience connected to working with vulnerable populations and/or Trauma Survivors. Experience in Facility Management and/or Staff Management of 1-5 employees. An Associate Degree in human services related to social work, non-profit management, trauma informed care, and other human services related field commensurate with the duties and responsibilities required. 2 years working in the human services field can substitute for an AA Degree. PROFESSIONALISM (NOT LISTED IN PRIORITY ORDER):
ORGANIZATION SKILLS: Must maintain an organized work area, files, etc. contributing to the efficiency and accuracy of work within the assigned workday and avoiding unnecessary overtime. RESPONSIBILITY: Significant impact on the daily functioning of the emergency residential intimate partner abuse shelter. Work is done under general supervision of the Shelter Manager in accordance with general procedures or policies. Decisions and actions are subject to prior approval by Shelter Manager, Executive Director, or Business Manager. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors of Human Services (preferred)
Associates of Human Services (required) Experience
