Job Summary |
The
Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development
is excited to begin the search for a Financial Assistant! The individual in this position performs a variety of basic financial and clerical tasks within the Department of Contracts and Grants Accounting.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: preparing, examining, coding and processing forms, vouchers, documents and reports for transactions; generating, reviewing, analyzing, reconciling and processing reports/listings; working with others to clarify policies and procedures and resolve discrepancies; work may involve collections and disbursements of cash, checks and other negotiable instruments.

Essential Functions |
- Receives, evaluates, codes, approves, enters, posts and/or processes vouchers, forms, reports, and other documents.
- Identifies and resolves inconsistencies and errors in financial documentation with appropriate persons.
- Assists vendors or departments concerning payments, balances, payroll inquiries, discrepancies or other account issues.
- Makes journal entries, updates accounts on financial systems and updates various budget or management reports.
- Files original vouchers, certificates or other paperwork according to department policies and procedures.
- Supports implementation of new or modified financial systems.
- Collects and processes cash, checks, money orders and/or other negotiable instruments.
- May originate, prepare, and/or approve vouchers, forms, letters, reports and other documents in response to requests.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications |
Level I - High School diploma or equivalent.
Level II - High School diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of experience in financial support services.
Substitutions allowed for Experience:
Degrees accepted in lieu of experience requirement for advanced levels, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience. |
