WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):

The Vice President, International Services/Service to the Armed Forces oversees all business operations that support International Services (IS)/Service to the Armed Forces (SAF). The VP, IS/SAF is the advisor to executive leadership and management team and provides support in facilitating effective decision-making and is responsible for finance and budget, grants administration, information management, logistics, personnel support, strategic planning and project management. The VP IS/SAF will direct the coordination of internal staff actions and requests for staff action, policy, and engagement between NHQ and the field and is accountable for assigning priority of work based upon the strategic goals and guidance established by the Senior Vice President. In addition, the VP IS/SAF is responsible for the timely planning and execution of strategic plans for the business/functional unit and will provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.

This is a remote position where the preferred candidate can reside anywhere in the United States. Travel: 25% for in-person meetings and to deploy as needed.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):

  • Responsible for managing team and oversight of business functions including finance and budget, grants administration, information management, personnel, logistics, and security.

  • Oversee the planning and execution of strategic initiatives, in collaboration with cross functional leadership and field teams and the field.

  • Oversee the project management office, ensuring clearly defined plans, tools and analytics.

  • Responsible for oversight of key measures of operational effectiveness and, where appropriate, initiating reviews to streamline business processes and increase efficiencies.

  • Support effective internal communications, including messages about key priorities, deadlines and progress against targets.

  • Oversee all inquiries and requests between NHQ and the field and ensure the proper course of action and appropriate office or individual is identified to manage the request. Ensure all actions are addressed properly and efficiently, and track progress until resolved.

  • Maintain productive working relationships with both internal and external clients and stakeholders.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Education: Master's degree required.

  • Experience: Minimum 15 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required, either in government, NGO, military, veteran or international humanitarian organizations.

  • Management Experience: 10 years management experience.

  • Skills & Abilities: Shape, lead, motivate and develop leadership teams. Work on a diverse team of Executives. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Ability to work effectively and persuasively with senior leaders. Work well under pressure and has the ability to lead and/or respond effectively to multiple changing priorities. Ability to work on team.

  • Demonstrated experience working in multi-cultural/international environments.

  • KEY COMPETENCIES: Data Analysis/Metrics, Business Acumen, Dealing with Ambiguity, Organizational Savvy, Intellectual Curiosity, Building Effective Relationships, Communications, Teamwork.

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU THE COMPETITIVE EDGE (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience and comfort working in a highly matrixed organization with strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills and an ability to navigateand lead through ambiguity.

  • Familiarity with international humanitarian programs, as well as military culture, regulations and protocol.

  • Knowledge of Red Cross programs, policies, procedures, and systems, both for the American Red Cross and the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

  • Experience managing large budgets, personnel rosters, grants management, business analytics, performance management, strategy implementation and continuous process improvement initiatives.

  • Experience in workforce design to establish optimal workforce functions, structure and locations to best deliver mission.

  • Experience leading change initiatives and managing internal communications at a division or national level.

*Combination of candidate's education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description's minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

PAY INFORMATION:

The salary range for this position is $175,000-$210,000.

Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.
