Hardware Engineer Intern - Programmable Logic

Our team at Viasat develops cutting edge technology products that are part of satellite communications ground system equipment. These products include very high data rate MODEMs, satellite tracking receivers and antenna system controllers. Development of these products involves advanced programmable-logic design, high-speed serial protocols, signal processing, and knowledge of communication systems.

As a Hardware Engineer Intern, you will design and test complex, high speed, FPGA designs implementing DSP algorithms for cutting edge communications systems. You will help define system level communications and networking requirements, support system simulations, translate requirements into hardware architectures, implement and document FPGA based designs using HDL, generate test vectors to fully test designs, and support systems integration to produce functional designs.

Requirements
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Previous experience or exposure to FPGA's and digital circuit design
  • Previous experience with Verilog or SystemVerilog
  • Ability to commit to a 10-12 week summer internship
Preferences
  • Previous internship experience
  • Exposure to C, C++, Python, and MATLAB
